Module 1: Objectives
Introduction to Equity-Based, Anti-Racist Education in North Carolina
In this module, we will have an opportunity to explore vocabulary related to race, ethnicity, nationality and white supremacy before examining the history or racial inequity in North Carolina and compare/contrast that with current legislation.
After this session students will be able to:
- Define key vocabulary:
- Race
- Ethnicity
- Nationality
- Racism
- White Supremacy
- Identify key moments in NC education history that laid a foundation for racial inequity or served to combat that inequity
- Connect the past with present educational conditions and issues
