CREED Academy is an opportunity to develop local leadership and advocacy through web-based professional development experiences for all North Carolina public school stakeholders. CREED is committed to changing the trajectory for the more than one-million students in our public school education system. We understand the much-needed transformation required to create competence and confidence in our anti-racist approach to equity. These small group learning sessions are convened around specific topics related to building critical consciousness for educators and stakeholders.

"I am learning alongside 22 amazing 7 year olds right now as I actively search to become a curious student of the world, and I have CREED to thank for the encouragement from Academy 101!"

Hi, we're CREED.

In 2018, former NC Teacher of the Year James E. Ford began devising a strategy for a standalone nonprofit that deals explicitly with race and education issues in North Carolina. By early 2019, he and fellow educator Janeen Bryant combined forces to launch the Center for Racial Equity in Education (CREED). Their values, priorities, and commitment to students led them to continuous strategizing and their eventual partnership. James and Janeen made the case that CREED must embody the bold leadership needed to transform the educational experiences of Black, Indigenous, and other people of color in the state.
