Course Description
CREED Academy 101 is an opportunity to develop local leadership and advocacy through web-based professional development experiences for all North Carolina public school stakeholders. CREED is committed to changing the trajectory for the more than one-million students in our public school education system. We understand the much-needed transformation required to create competence and confidence in our anti-racist approach to equity. These small group learning sessions are convened around specific topics related to building critical consciousness for educators and stakeholders.
Course Objectives
After this course students will be able to:
- Build language together and describe an ongoing historical struggle
- Develop leadership skills through expressing personal values and building practical communication skills
- Demonstrate how to build trust in communities of color through relationships
- Identify pedagogical practices proven effective with minoritized groups
- Define and apply abolitionist teaching and culturally affirming practices
- Define Critical Systems Theory and Improvement Science
- Explain what we mean by Understanding Hidden Data and Equity Plan Development
- Identify and explore additional resources like books, movies, educators, and more
