CREED Academy 201 is an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts in CREED Academy 101. Students will continue to explore how they can build a leadership policy in their own communities and classrooms as well build a strong network of advocates. CA 201 is focused on supporting students as they create a plan to operationalize practices of social justice and equity in their classroom, schools, districts, and communities. Students will engage in preparation activities prior to each class that will be centered around a discussion that will help students to develop and present their Personal Growth Plan or Project of a Budget Analysis, Handbook Policy Audit, Professional Development Plan, or Curriculum.

Course Objectives

After this course students will be able to:

  • Utilize appropriate language and describe an ongoing historical struggle
  • Develop leadership skills through the creation of a Personal Growth Plan that takes the form of a Budget Analysis, Handbook Policy Audit, Professional Development Plan, or Curriculum
  • Demonstrate how to build trust in communities of color through relationships
  • Define and apply abolitionist teaching and culturally affirming practices to classrooms, schools, districts, or other communities
  • Operationalize their knowledge of equity and pedagogical practices proven effective with minoritized groups
